I like to observe lips of friends. I noticed that most overweight friends tend to have darker lips and a few with dark ring around the lips.

Besides hereditary, the TCM bible I refer to, dark ring around lips has been associated with constipation and poor bowel movement.

With both signs of dark lips and ring around lips, one is advised to change their lifestyle and food intake. Wake up and do some exercises, cut down your food and eat healthily, sleep early and avoid late night supper.

My reply:

It seems that your lips are quite sensitive to the environment and gets dry and red easily.

It’s important to protect your lips from dry environment. Apply a good quality lip balm, preferably organic, with sun screen before you go out.

If you need to stay in air-conditioned room for long hours, again you need to lock up your lips moisture with lip balm.

Do not lick your lips often. But I understand that this action can be out of control.

At night, apply a thin layer of honey or Vit E based lip balm before you go to bed. You need to do lip mask too once a week. Natural fruits (avocado, banana) lip mask is good to nourish your lips.

On the diet side, take lighter and nourishing foods, avoid spicy and heaty foods. If you manage to get some nourishing herbs at your neighbourhood, you may take it regularly.

If your condition is serious, I advise you to consult a skin specialist.
